Pack 888 believes in investing in our Scouts through well-planned and executed programs, and with enthusiastic and well-trained adult volunteers. Whether you are an event coordinator, an Assistant Den Leader, or a Pack Committee Member, the Scouting program has online and in-person training to help you have a greater impact on our Scouts. Youth Protection Training: This course ("YPT") is required for all registered adult volunteers and is recommended for all parents. The safety and well-being of our youth is of paramount importance to our organization, and integral to everything we do. We must continue our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment at all times for all our youth members. Pack 888 requests that all leaders complete YPT each calendar year.
Den Leader Training: This course is designed for Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders leading Lion through Webelos. Learn about the Aims and Methods of Cub Scouting, advancement, the Scout uniform, How to conduct a Den Meeting, outdoor activities, how the Pack and Dens work together, and how to involve parents in the Cub Scout program.
Pack Committee Member Training: This course will help parents who want to get involved in making the Pack successful. Learn about how the Pack and Committee work together to deliver the Cub Scout program and outdoor activities, and more.
Cubmaster Training: Want to know what it takes to be a Cubmaster or Assistant Cubmaster? This training plan will give you what you need to know to organize Pack events, lead large groups of parents and Scouts, and lead the Pack on outdoor adventures.
BALOO: Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a one-and-a-half day course designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in having a camping component as part of their Pack activities. BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight hands-on practical course. BSA's Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught, along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for a minimum of one adult on a Pack overnighter. BALOO's in-person component is facilitated through the National Capital Area Council.
